Protocol: Transport Attendant Guidelines

Original Effective Date: 01/01/2001 | Revised Date: 01/01/2002

PROCEDURE:

Each of the protocols treatment is broken into that which can be performed by BLS, ILS, or ALS personnel. This is clearly labeled each time the level of care is elevated. One of the levels will have a darkened background surrounding it. This darkened level, is the minimum licensure level which the EMT that will attend the patient in the back of the unit, must be licensed. If the level of care initiated/provided on scene, is higher than the minimum level designated for transport, personnel licensed for the level of care provided or higher, must attend.

  1. This designation is not without some exception/extenuating circumstances. Exceptions should be rare and WILL be reviewed for appropriateness. You should make every effort to consider this recommendation.
  2. There is basically no room for deviation from this requirement. DO NOT attend a patient which you cannot care for at your licensure level.
