ALS MEDICATION
CLASS: Antidysrhythmic
INDICATIONS:
- Treatment of shock refractory VF/ pulseless VT
- Treatment of polymorphic VT & wide complex tachycardia of uncertain origin.
- Control of hemodynamically stable VT when cardioversion unsuccessful.
- Adjunct to electrical cardioversion of SVT & PSVT.
- May be used in rate control of atrial fibrillation & atrial flutter when other therapies ineffective.
PRECAUTIONS:
- Vasodilation and hypotension
- Negative Inotropic effects
- Half-life lasts up to 40 days
DOSAGE:
Adult:
- Cardiac Arrest-Adult:
- Initial 300 mg IV push (mix in 20ml D5W)
- 2nd Dose 150 mg IV push in 3-5 mintues (mix in 20ml D5W)
- Wide-Complex Tachycardia-Adult (Stable)
- 150 mg IV over 10 minutes (may repeat every 10 minutes as needed) consult with Medical Control
Pediatric:
- Cardiac Arrest-Adult:
- Initial 5mg/kg IV/IO (mix in 20ml D5W)
- Wide-Complex Tachycardia-Adult (Stable)
- Initial 5mg/kg IV/IO over 20-60 (mix in 20ml D5W)
