Oxygen

  1. Therapeutic Effects
    1. Gas
    2. Increase concentration of O2 on Hemoglobin

  2. Indications
    1. Suspected hypoxia or respiratory disress from any cause
    2. Acute chest pain in which myocardial infarction is suspected
    3. Shock (decreased oxygenation of tissue) from any cause
    4. Trauma
    5. Carbon monoxide poisoning

  5. Administration and Dosage
    1. Low Flow: 1-2 LPM (Nasal Cannula)
    2. Moderate Flow 2-4 LPM (Nasal Cannula)
    3. Moderate Flow 4-8 LPM (Simple Face Mask)
    4. High Flow 10-15 LPM (Non/Partial Rebreather Mask)
