- Therapeutic Effects
- Acts to break down fibrin portion of previously formed clots.
- Indications
- Acute myocardial infarction.
- Acute pulmonary embolism.
- Deep venous thrombosis.
- Peripheral artery thrombosis.
- Arteriovenous shunt occlusion.
- Contraindications/Precautions
- Absolute.
- Active bleeding.
- CVA or intracranial/spinal surgery within 2 months.
- Intracranial neoplasm.
- Relative.
- Major surgery/biopsy within 10 days.
- GI bleeding or biopsy within 10 days
- Recent trauma.
- Recent CPR.
- Pregnancy or post partum.
- Uncontrolled hypertension.
- Severe hepatic or renal disease.
- Active malignancy.
- Side Effects
- Allergic reaction (greatest with Streptokinase).
- Reperfusion dysrhythmias
- Bleeding (minor to severe).
