Blood and Blood Products

1. Products
   1. Packed RBC's:Red blood cells with plasma removed.
   2. Fresh Frozen Plasma:Cell fre plasma containing coagulation factors.
   3. Platelets:Plasma free platelets.

2. Therapeutic Effects
   1. Restoration of missing blood components from disease or hemorhage.

3. Indications
   1. Witnessed ongoing blood loss.
   2. Lab work showing loss of certain blood products.

4. Contraindications/Precautions
   1. Patient blood type incompatible with units available in blood bank.

5. Side Effects
   1. Febrile reactions.
   2. Allergic reaction.
   3. Serious hemolytic reaction, immediate and delayed.

6. Administration and Dosage
   1. Dosage will vary by patient need.
   2. Administration of warmed blood is prefered. May be mixed with normal saline at 110 degrees F.
   3. Use micropore filter if available.
