Terbutaline
- Therapeutic Effects
- Selective beta2 agonist that relaxes smooth muscle (bronchial), increases blood sugar, relaxes uterine tone, causes peripheral vascular relaxation and CNS stimulation to name a few of it's properties.
- Indications
- Bronchospasm
- premature labor
- Contraindications/Precautions
- Allergy to Terbutaline.
- Use with caution in coronary artery disease, CHF, hyperthyroidism and diabetes.
- Side Effects
- Palpitations, tachycardia, hypertension, angina.
- Tremor, anxiety, insomnia, disorientation, seizures.
- Administration and Dosage
- Usual dose: 0.25 mg SQ every 2-4 hours.
