- Therapeutic Effects
- Indications (EMS)
- sedation for certain procedures only. i.e. intubation.
- Contraindications
- hypersensitivity
- should not be given during pregnancy because of possible toxic effects on
the fetus.
- should not be given to patients with hypotension.
- should not be administered to patients in shock.
- Precautions
- must have emergency airway equipment ready.
- more likely to cause respiratory depression, or respiratory arrest than
Valium.
- continuously monitor vital signs.
- Dosage
- 2 mg-4mg slow IV push. With on-line medical control. May repeat
only with direct orders from on-line medical control.

- bronchospasm
- dyspnea
- respiratory depression and arrest
- drowsiness
- amnesia
- altered mental status
- bradycardia
- tachycardia
- PVC
- retching
