• Antiemetic
• Antihistaminic

2. Indications (EMS)

• Nausea associated with narcotic administration.

3. Contraindications

• hypersensitivity
• newborn and premature infants
• nursing mothers
• CNS depression
• jaundice
• acutely ill or dehydrated children

4. Precautions

• glaucoma
• asthma
• elderly patients
• pregnancy
• bone marrow depression

5. Dosage

• EMT-I must have on-line medical control order prior to administration.
• 12.5 mg/slow IV or deep IM push over 1 minute.
• DO NOT REPEAT WITHOUT ON-LINE MED CONTROL ORDER.

• IV

7. Side Effects

• sedation
• thickening of mucous
• drowsiness
• dizziness
• dry mouth

8. Toxic Effects

• CNS DEPRESSION
• CNS STIMULATION
• WANDERING PACEMAKER
• PROLONGED QT INTERVAL
• ST-T WAVE CHANGES
